Dr. Suzanne Smith became a podiatrist because she had problems with her own feet. As a long distance runner, she experience foot pain, and visited a podiatrist for relief. She discovered she wanted to provide that same kind of professional foot care and attention to others.
Her emphasis is on conservative foot treatment, resorting to surgery only if needed. Some foot ailments and problems respond to minimally invasive surgery, which require shorter recovery time.
Many of Dr. Smith's patients suffer from diabetes, and she dedicates many of her office hours to treatment and care of patients' feet affected by this disease. Dr. Smith offers palliative care, or soothing the symptoms of a disease or disorder.
Helping diabetics live a better quality of life is one of the most rewarding aspects of her practice.
